Amol Ghode

Amol is a Pakhawaj player belonging to the Nana Panse tradition.
His musical journey spans live performances and contributions to soundtracks of films. Hailing from Kolhapur, Amol received his earliest training in Tabla from Pt. Keshavrao Dharmadhikari, his son Pt. Rajprasad Dharmadhikari, and Pt. Amod Dandage. In recognition of his talent , Amol was awarded a scholarship from the Government of India’s Center for Cultural Resource and Training. In 2008, he began learning Pakhawaj under the esteemed guidance of the late Pt. Vasantrao Ghorpadkar, a master of the revered Nana Panse tradition. Pt. Ghorpadkar not only imparted knowledge of compositions but also enriched Amol's understanding of the instrument's aesthetics, vocalization (Padhant), and compositional forms. After Pandit Ghorpadkar’s demise, Amol continues his Pakhawaj training with the maestro’s grandson, Shri Nikhil Ghorpadkar. Amol is also learning Khayal in the Gwalior tradition from Pt. Chandrashekhar Mahajan, a disciple of Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and the late Pt. Babanrao Haldankar.

Amol has accompanied Rudraveena player late Pt. Hindaraj Divekar across India and Dhrupad vocalist Sumeet Anand in the USA. He has also contributed to film music, sound design and performing for Kaifiyat (2019, Elroy Pinto), composing a translation of a Neruda’s poem for The Sea of Lost Time (2019, Gurvinder Singh) and playing Pakhawaj for an upcoming film by Kumar Shahani
