Kamaljeet Ahluwalia
Santoor

Kamaljeet Ahluwalia walks an innovative path on the Santoor, a rare and exquisite hammered dulcimer/zither. Her performances invite audiences on an emotional and spiritual journey, exploring vast, sublime melodies and intricate rhythmic patterns that build to an energy-filled crescendo. Kamaljeet began her training at the age of 7 under Sitar Maestro Dharambir Singh (MBE). She furthered her studies with Santoor Maestro Harjinderpal Singh, with her most transformative learning coming from her time under the late Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, whose teachings deeply shaped her artistry. Kamaljeet now humbly works to carry on his legacy through her performances and dedication to the Santoor.
Together, with her husband Jas (disciple of Ust Tari Khan) they founded the production company Absolute Focus, where they work on a diverse array of projects. Their portfolio includes work with major television and film clients such as Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon, Disney, and Facebook. They have composed music for live theater, cultural projects, and strive to introduce Indian classical music to new audiences around the world.
In 2026, they debuted ‘Echoes of the Unstruck sound’ with composing partner Chris Votek (Indian classical cellist, and composer) at the Nimoy Theater LA. The project distilled the essence of Raga and counterpoint melody to create a deep relationship and respect between the two.
