Mridangam

Ashvath Karthik is a dedicated young percussionist who has been training in the art of mridangam under the guidance of Guru Shri Arjun Narayanan for the past seven years. Through consistent practice, disciplined learning, and deep respect for the Carnatic tradition, Ashvath has developed a strong foundation in rhythm, technique, and accompaniment.

He has actively performed as a mridangam accompanist across the United States, Chennai, and New Delhi, accompanying both vocal and instrumental concerts, including mandolin, flute, and veena. His performances demonstrate strong stage presence, adaptability, and a refined sense of laya (rhythmic precision). His ability to support artists has made him a valued accompanist in diverse concert settings.

Ashvath has received several accolades for his musical accomplishments, including recognition at the nationally renowned Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana, one of the most recognized platforms for Carnatic music in North America. These achievements reflect both his dedication and growing excellence in the field.

In addition to mridangam, Ashvath is also training in Carnatic vocal music, which enhances his understanding of musical structure and expression. He regularly attends and listens to recordings of yesteryear Carnatic concerts, drawing inspiration from legendary artists and incorporating those learnings to refine his technique and musical sensitivity.
