Tabla Duet

Tithi and Rushika are Juniors attending Irvington High School in Fremont, California (CA). The twins began learning Tabla (taalim) in the Lucknow Gharana from Shri Nikhil Pandya, (a disciple of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri) at the age of 5. They have been learning from Swapanji for over three years at the Ali Akbar College of Music, CA. They have performed Tabla Solos and Duets, accompanied by other artists including Vocalists, Sitar, Sarangi, and Harmonium players at various concerts. Their most recent concert was at the Ustad Amir Khan Festival, organized by the Intonation Foundation, in San Jose, CA. Tithi and Rushika are non-profit volunteers at the Ashavari Performing Arts. They have organized community awareness engagements such as local fundraising concerts. Tithi and Rushika have also been learning Bharatnatyam - South Indian classical dance for over 12 years. Their most recent Bharatnatyam performance was at the Pleasanton Senior Center, CA. Tithi enjoys problem-solving, exploring the connection between math and Tabla, and is equally passionate about addressing climate change and environmental challenges. Rushika enjoys performing experiments in a wet lab for biochemistry research. She is fascinated by the connection between the science of playing tabla and human health.
