Shivam started learning tabla at the age of 7 from Shri Hemant Ekbote in Irvine. He went on to learn online from Shri Muthu Kumar from Bangalore, before spending 3 years with Pt. Aditya Kalyanpur, one of the foremost exponents of the Punjab Gharana. Shivam has since been receiving taleem with the legendary Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, master of the Farrukhabad and Lucknow Gharanas. Shivam has played alongside esteemed musicians like Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya and Pt. Pankaj Mishra, and he has had the fortune of performing solos in front of many tabla maestros, including Ut. Tari Khan, Pt. Nayan Ghosh, Pt. Abhijit Banerjee, and more.
