Sathya Ramesh has been playing Mridangam (South Indian drums) for over 15 years, as one of the 10 women in the world playing the instrument professionally today. She has been learning since she was a toddler from her father and teacher Sri. Ramesh Srinivasan. Sathya currently is a staff at Sarvalaghu Percussion Art Center (SPAC) and in 2023, she had the very special opportunity to provide special advance training to another girl student to complete her first professional debut concert in Chennai, India, with flying colors.

Sathya completed her Mridangam arangetram (debut concert) in January 2015 in Chennai, India. She accompanied two internationally renowned violinists, Lalgudi Sri. G.J.R. Krishnan and Lalgudi Smt. Vijayalakshmi, as well as Sri. Ghatam Suresh, a top-notch rhythm expert. Sathya was awarded the Best Percussionist Award by the Sangeet Samraat Competition in 2016. She has performed in Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana festival on multiple occasions as well numerous Sabhas in Chennai. Other prominent artists Sathya has accompanied include Violin Maestro Sangita Kalanidhi Dr. M. Chandrasekharan, Violin Stalwart Dr. M. Narmadha, Sri. B.S. Purushotham, Santoor Maestro Tarun Bhattacharya, Whistle Wizard Sivaprasad, Sitar Maestro Pandit Habib Khan, Chitravina Ganesh amongst others. After completing her arangetram, she became part of the staff at Sarvalaghu Percussion Arts Center, to teach students the artform and bring them to the arangetram-level. Additionally, Sathya has completed her vocal arangetram under Neyveli gurukulam in 2016. Sathya is an Electrical Engineer alumnus from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY and currently works at Global Foundries as a Process Engineer.
