Los Angeles, CA, USA

Distinguished as "the fastest hands in Hollywood," Salar Nader, an Afghan-American percussionist, composer, and producer, commenced his tabla odyssey at age seven under the Grammy award-winning Ustad Zakir Hussain. Focused on North Indian percussion's intricate rhythms, Salar stands as a global ambassador seamlessly intertwining tabla art with Afghan musical nuances. Based in Los Angeles, Salar pioneers the fusion of tabla with mainstream music, fostering experimentation in his daily musical pursuits. In 2019, he founded the Salar Nader Tabla Foundation, globally preserving Afghan cultural traditions through instruments and mentor scholarships, supported by Rhea Designs Inc. In March 2022, Salar curated "Nezam-e-Shams" at the Getty Museum, a pinnacle collaboration for the Sounds of LA series and Smithsonian Folklife Festival. His discography includes "Live in San Francisco Volume I" and "The Forgotten Empress," along with collaborations with Grand Tapestry. Performing over 150 concerts yearly pre-pandemic with mentor Stanley Clarke, Salar contributed to diverse projects, from scoring "The Kite Runner" stage adaptation to film soundtracks like "The Reluctant Fundamentalist." His Broadway debut in July 2022 showcased his talent and original compositions. Since 2023, Salar collaborates with the Leela Dance Collective, expanding his musical repertoire. Currently touring with "The Kite Runner" and The Stanley Clarke Band, he continues his dedication to community engagement, workshops, and cross-cultural understanding.
