Randal Fisher grew up in Los Angeles hearing jazz music from his father’s vinyl collection throughout his childhood. He started learning clarinet at 11 years old and added saxaphone after private lessons with Ricky Washington, father of saxophonist Kamasi Washington. He feels that playing music professionally is an entire lifestyle, a higher calling, a purpose that is bigger than just going to work and making money. He was privileged enough to be around artists who embodied their art in such an inspiriting way that he couldn’t help but desire to experience that himself. Randal today plays tenor and soprano saxophones, flute and clarinet professionally for many different bands and ensembles ranging from almost every form of music in America.
