Shivam Pathak

Tabla

Shivam has been learning tabla since the age of 6. Initially, for 4 years, Shivam learned tabla from Shri Debankur Naskar (senior disciple of Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri) of Lucknow Gharana. For the last 8 years, Shivam has been taking taleem from Shri Sanjay Deshpande (senior disciple of Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, Late Ustad Alla Rakha, and Pt. Vivek Joshi). Additionally, Shivam received the prestigious scholarship from the Ali Akbar College of Music to learn tabla from none other than legendary Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri. In addition to performing solos, Shivam provides tabla accompaniment to both vocals and instrumentals with equal ease. Shivam is also an IndianRaga Fellow. He has recorded and published multiple albums, including a CD with Dr. Prasad Jogalekar, one of the finest Sitar players of the Jafferkhani style. Shivam has performed at various national concerts, including at Little Rock for AIM For Seva. Moreover, Shivam has learned Hindustani Classical Vocals from Smt. Sujata Ghanekar for 9 years and at present is learning from Pt. Shantanu Bhattacharyya for 3 years. He has won many tabla and vocal competitions. Furthermore, Shivam is 1st chair tenor saxophone in both the Advanced Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band at his school.
