Debasish Chaudhuri is one of the most sought after and acclaimed tabla teacher and player from Kolkata, India. He is based in Los Angeles, California from 2004. He began learning Tabla from the age of five. He learned from Pandit Nanku Mahar ji (Benaras) and Pandit Kanai Dutta (Farukhabad) and currently over forty years from world-renowned tabla Maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri of the Lucknow Gharana who also his uncle. Debasish has performed in many concerts in India, United States, Europe, far-east, including tabla solos, percussion ensembles accompaniment. He accompanied various world-renowned instrumentalists and vocalists of North Indian Classical Music namely Pandit V.G. Jog, Pandit Jasraj , Pandit Manas Chakraborty, Ustad Aashish Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Nishat Khan, Ustad Irshad Khan, Ravi Kiran and also a table duet with maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri to name a few. Debashish is the director and teacher for the Rupak School of World Music and trains many students the art of Tabla Playing in Southern California.
